Donovan joined Capstart Private Equity Market in
September 2003. Donovan has a degree majoring in environmental
sciences and has worked for leading multinational
organisations in senior management roles in Australia and
overseas and has managed some of the countries largest brands.
He has also worked for several exciting start-ups and in own
business development practice.
As principal of his own business development
and new technology commercialisation practice, Donovan has had
extensive involvement in a broad range of industries
including: IT, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, entertainment,
steel frame and concrete construction industries.
In his corporate life Donovan held significant
executive general management/director roles responsible for
marketing, sales, distribution, export and country management.
He has a career track record of consistently delivering
improved EBIT earnings and sales growth.
Principal International organisations he has
worked for include:
- Electrolux – the world’s largest manufacturer of
kitchen, laundry, cleaning and outdoor appliances and market
leader in Australia.
- SOCOG – Sydney Organizing Committee for the 2000 Olympic
Games.
- Rothmans International – formerly the world’s fourth
largest tobacco manufacturer and market leader in Australia.
Donovan joined SOCOG at the beginning and was
involved in setting up SOCOG's sales and marketing programme.
He was jointly responsible for managing SOCOG's Olympic
sponsorship programme which achieved its objective to raise a
revenue target of $650 million from corporate Australia.
He also headed up SOCOG's Business Development
Program. In addition to expanding SOCOG's potential sponsor’s
opportunities and facilitating the Olympic ticket float, he
negotiated the tripartite agreement with Government and
business to create the $40 million in Olympic marketing
collateral necessary to put underground the overhead power
lines at Homebush Bay.
