CAPstart cannot be responsible for the information provided by listing SMEs, however to assist in making the information comprehensive, relevant and reasonably presented it is mandatory that all listing SMEs participate in CAP start's Investment Ready Review and Workshop program which takes up to 10 hours of review time.
Registration for Investors/Subscribers is free. It should be noted that CAPstart receive review, listing and success fees from SMEs. See SME Registration Terms and Conditions for details.
Investment in private companies (especially seed, start-up or early expansion) is usually highly speculative and part or all of the company's capital can easily be lost. It is most important that potential Investors thoroughly check out the company and its management prior to investing. CAPstart Market has provided below a guide to some of the issues that should be addressed by Investors.

Investors will have had vastly different experiences investing in SMEs and have different financial abilities to undertake evaluation and due-diligence. The following suggestions are listed only as a general guide of items, which should be addressed by the Investor prior to looking at individual investment opportunities: -
- Understand your own ability and experience in investing in SMEs
- Do you want to have any other role, i.e., a directorship or any management positions?
- Are you willing to be part of a syndicate?
- Are there any particular industries in which you would not invest?
- Do you wish to appoint Advisers to assist in the investment evaluation and/or negotiations?
- What is the maximum and minimum amount you would be willing to put into a single investment?
- Understand and define the levels of risk you are prepared to take
- Do you wish to consider selling your investment in any particular time period, i.e., 3 to 5 years?
- Do you require any arrangements to be put in place now to assist with this?
- Understand that investing in SMEs is an investment of limited liquidity
Remember that investing in or lending to SMEs is often high-risk
